Project: Working Girls and Boys Hostels

Vision– Empower the young generation by employment in major cities in Kerala.

What?: Provide hostel facilities and food for elderly girls and boys in major cities in Kerala. These girls and boys can stay there for a certain period to search for a job or acquire any skills. Once they are familiar with the city or equipped with skills or jobs they can move independently. The next generation will join in that vacancy. Maybe we can tie up with the leading companies or businesses like automobile mechanics, plumbing, electricians, fabricators, stitching, gardening,…. Our hostellers can choose jobs based on their interests as apprenticeships. If they get a stipend it will be used for accommodation fee and food costs.

How?: Get a two-floor home in a major city like Thiruvananthapuram, Cochi, Kozhikode… Appoint a warden and cook. It is an income-generating project.

Why?: Most of the young generation of  Delit, tribal, fishermen, Marginalized communities, and poor families are unemployed. I think it is the same with all marginalized communities in the world. They spend their time in their village, this unemployment leads them to unwanted and illegal activities. They are easily attracted to drugs. They spoiled their entire life in their village. They do not have any links or support in major cities to get a job. So they do not show the courage to travel to major cities and stay there, as cities provide the majority of jobs. Mainly girls lost their entire life in the village before and after marriage, once married they have to close all their aspirations about their careers. Most of these youngsters could not explore city life. They do not have any connection or guidance in the city to search for a job, Everyone wants a job or employment. But they could not, why? I think if they get a place for a brief stay in the course of their career journey. They can overcome their hesitation and fear of city life, easily find a job, or enhance their skills.

After-School Satellite Learning Center Project

The After-school Satellite Learning Centers are a secure space where students can do their homework and study, and discussions are conducted in the village with the help of interested community members, individuals, and groups. Blossom Projects alumni or interested educated youths can lead this community with the guidance and support of Lokuttara. The learning model is based on senior students teaching and supporting younger students’ education. It is an additional educational support for students who are from economically disadvantaged and socially marginalized families. Because students from these backgrounds may not be able to bear the cost of additional tuition fees, those advanced in their education or motivated to help other students create small learning centers in their communities; with the right support, training, and resources, any committed graduate or undergraduate student can lead and guide the younger generation.
